The NBA recently announced the finalists for the 2023-24 Defensive Player of the Year award. The candidates include Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and newcomer Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs.
Gobert has an impressive track record with three previous Defensive Player of the Year awards, winning in 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2020-21 while playing for the Utah Jazz.
This is Adebayo’s first time being a finalist for the award, while Wembanyama is also recognized as a finalist for the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year.
