While we’re not claiming they will definitely win the NBA Championship, their odds seem excessively high for teams with legitimate playoff aspirations. Let’s examine five teams that could defy the odds, starting with a real championship contender:
**Minnesota Timberwolves**
Currently listed at +1000 in DraftKings’ NBA odds to win it all, the Timberwolves have made significant offseason moves and had a solid season with 56 wins. Although their playoff run ended disappointingly against the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, they arguably benefited from the trade involving Karl-Anthony Towns, acquiring Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. With only two players starting over 40 games last season, important players like Derrick Rose, Marcus Smart, and Ja Morant made just 36 combined starts. If the Grizzlies can stay healthy, their odds of +3000 to win the NBA Championship appear overly high for a team with their potential.
**LA Lakers**

With a new head coach, Kenny Atkinson replacing JB Bickerstaff, and several players approaching their prime, the Cavs could surprise in the Eastern Conference.
