Five Up-and-Coming Prospects Selected to Represent Great Britain in Ice Hockey

Five young NextGen prospects will be part of the Great Britain training camp squad in Cardiff next month.

Defencemen Brad Bowering and Archie Hazeldine, along with forwards Kieran Brown, Mac Howlett and Logan Neilson, will link-up with the 27-man squad announced yesterday.

Head Coach, Pete Russell, said: “It will be great to have these players with us and all five will be fully involved in the camp.”

“We are really looking forward to seeing all the players and evaluate them across the training camp. We can prepare, create competition and evaluate where our current and next talents are.

“Logan and Kieran have both already linked-up with us before and in many ways, it’s so good we can be one step ahead and integrate more British players into the men’s programme.”

“I think it’s good to get opportunities to integrate players of different ages into the process. It’s not easy but this is the prefect time for us.”

Ice Hockey UK CEO, Henry Staelens, said: “Providing opportunities for our athletes of the future is a key focus of our upcoming strategy.”

“We’ll release more details about the GB NextGen programme in the coming months.”

“It’s great to see this group of five involved in August with Pete and his team.”

GB are preparing for the Final Olympic Qualification tournament in Aalborg where they will face Denmark, Norway and Japan from Thursday 29th August to Sunday 1st September.

The group winners will progress to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

The training camp in Cardiff includes a warm-up match against the Devils on Friday 23rd August (7pm) followed by Belfast Giants on Sunday 25th August (6pm).
