Liverpool is ramping up efforts to bolster their defense, with recent reports suggesting they are exploring a transfer for Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix.
The club’s scouting department is diligently searching the Premier League for solid options to enhance a back line currently undergoing significant changes.
<pJournalist Lewis Steele from the Daily Mail has reported that Lacroix has become a serious consideration at Anfield.
Having linked up with his former Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace, the French defender matches the athletic requirements Liverpool desires.
Liverpool is Impressed by Lacroix
With a strong recovery speed and a proactive style of play, Lacroix fits well into a system that employs a high defensive line, although he is not the only Crystal Palace player on Liverpool’s radar.
Concerns about Ibrahima Konaté’s future are driving the need for a new central defender. The French player’s contract is set to expire in 2026, and discussions about an extension appear to have stalled.
Additionally, worries around Konaté’s reliability and injury history have prompted Liverpool’s management to think about succession planning sooner rather than later.
If Konaté’s form does not improve or if a new contract isn’t reached, the team may need to act quickly in the January transfer window or the next summer transfer period.
While Lacroix presents an appealing, physically imposing option, Liverpool still has a long-standing interest in his teammate Marc Guéhi.
