Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka who was sold for cheap is now “looking the real deal” Ally McCoist says

Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka who was sold for cheap is now “looking the real deal” Ally McCoist says

It would be quite remarkable if Arsenal secured the Premier League title while Granit Xhaka played a pivotal role in Bayer Leverkusen clinching their maiden Bundesliga championship.

Following Xabi Alonso’s team’s commanding 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich on Saturday, which not only preserved their unbeaten record but also established a five-point lead at the summit of the Bundesliga, such a scenario started to seem plausible to many.

A key factor contributing to Leverkusen’s unexpected triumph this season has been the performance of their recent summer acquisition, Granit Xhaka. His addition has infused the team with a robust and aggressive style, significantly impacting their approach to matches.

Ally McCoist believes Granit Xhaka is proving himself to be the genuine completed article since leaving Arsenal. Transitioning from commanding the midfield at the Emirates to doing so at the BayArena, Xhaka’s performance has impressed McCoist, as he shared on talkSPORT.

“He is controlling that midfield and he is looking the real deal.”

At 31 years old, Xhaka has been a regular starter in every league match for Xabi Alonso’s team and is currently showcasing the peak of his footballing abilities.

Prior to Mikel Arteta’s appointment, Granit Xhaka’s tenure at Arsenal was widely regarded as a significant letdown, seemingly not fitting well into the team. His infamous incident against Crystal Palace remains etched in memory.

However, those days are now behind him, as he emerges as one of the premier players in his position across Europe. Ally McCoist believes Arsenal supporters will be delighted with Xhaka’s resurgence, considering his £22 million price tag.
