Former Buffalo Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff Returns to Lead Team as Head Coach Again

Lindy Ruff Hired Again by the Buffalo Sabres as Head Coach



Lindy Ruff, 64, has been hired by the Buffalo Sabres as their head coach once again. Ruff previously coached the Sabres from 1997-98 and from 2012-13. The decision to bring him back comes after the Sabres missed the playoffs for the 13th straight season and made changes by firing Don Granato after four unsuccessful seasons.

Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams expressed his excitement about Ruff’s return, stating, “As I went through the hiring process, it quickly became clear Lindy was the person for the job. He has experience, a proven track record, familiarity with young players, and so much more.”

Ruff, who spent four seasons with the New Jersey Devils before joining the Sabres, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to return to Buffalo. He believes that the team is ready to take the next step and reach their goals under his leadership.

Adams emphasized that the decision to hire Ruff was not based on nostalgia but on the belief that he can help the team succeed. The Sabres are looking forward to working with Ruff to bring success back to the organization.
