Former New England Patriots Star Criticizes Aaron Rodgers for Missing Minicamp

Patriots Legend Rips Aaron Rodgers For Not Attending Minicamp

Ever since the New York Jets decided to make a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers to acquire superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the storied franchise has had high hopes of becoming a legitimate title contender in the AFC, as the one-time Super Bowl champion was viewed as the missing piece to the championship puzzle.

Unfortunately for New York, Rodgers almost immediately suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in his debut with the team against the division-rival Buffalo Bills last year, which derailed any chance of the Jets contending in the conference.

Although that injury tends to end the careers of players at an advanced age like Rodgers (40), Rodgers let it be known he will be returning to the team and is determined to bounce back with a vengeance with a chip on his shoulder.

However, Rodgers has somewhat contradicted himself recently, as he claimed to be focused on football but missed mandatory minicamp with an unexcused absence, which was a significant concern for the team.

Former New England Patriots star Julian Edelman made an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd this week and talked about how this missed minicamp might come back to haunt Rodgers and the Jets.

“If they go 1-3, this is going to be such a big distraction for that locker room,” Edelman said.

If Rodgers comes back and plays at an MVP level while leading the Jets to weekly wins, this missed minicamp story will be forgotten, but if the opposite takes place, as Edelman pointed out, it could be another nightmare season for New York.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in New York moving forward and whether Rodgers is genuinely dedicated to turning this team around.
