For years, Baker Mayfield was one of the most discussed players around the National Football League.
He had failed to live up to the hype that comes with being the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.
Fast forward to today, and Mayfield has landed a big deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the team seems to be thrilled with having him.
Talking about him, former NFL star Ryan Shazier compared him to Draymond Green (via The Carton Show).

Per Shazier, Mayfield is the kind of player you hate as an opponent but would want to have on your team, citing that he’s a winner and a born competitor.
Mayfield’s tenure with the Cleveland Browns wasn’t exactly successful, but it’s not like he was put in a position to succeed, either, going through several offensive coordinator changes and whatnot.
Even so, he still led them to the playoffs, which isn’t a small accomplishment if you consider the franchise’s history of struggles.
We can agree that Mayfield might never be the caliber of quarterback that goes No. 1 overall, but his career resurgence is quite notable, and no one can deny his competitive fire.
Regardless of the score or the opponent, he’ll play through injury and will never feel like he’s out of a game, and that’s something other players can relate to and respect as a leader.
