Former world No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep will return to the WTA following news today that her initial four-year ban from tennis had been reduced to nine months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Halep, who had won 24 career titles and over 40 million in career prize money, continued to maintain her innocence throughout the last year.
The 32-year-old last played on Tour during a first-round loss at the 2022 US Open.
Halep had this to say about her favourable ruling on her Instagram page today.
The Romanian star will be eligible to return to competition as early as later this month at the Miami Open.
