Christian Pulisic Takes on a New Challenge with Children’s Book
Christian Pulisic, the 27-year-old star of AC Milan and a prominent figure in the U.S. men’s national soccer team, is venturing into the world of literature by releasing a children’s picture book titled “Christian’s Soccer Superpowers.” This project is in collaboration with Philomel, a division of Penguin Young Readers known for promoting children’s and young adult literature.
The book is aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 8 and narrates the story of a young boy named Christian who has a passion for soccer but faces difficulties fitting in after joining a new team. As the story unfolds, he gradually gains confidence and embraces his new environment.
Pulisic expressed his intentions for writing the book, stating, “Every kid who loves soccer, or any sport, has moments of doubt. I wanted to tell a story that reminds young readers that their real superpower is confidence. Believing in yourself and having fun with your team is what truly makes you a champion.”
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, Pulisic’s message of self-confidence and teamwork is timely and relevant for young soccer players in North America.
Pulisic is not the first athlete to write for children. Former Premier League players Frank Lampard and Theo Walcott have both published children’s books. More recently, Neymar introduced a series of comic books titled “Inked: Art Animates Life,” featuring a young Brazilian hero using magical tattoos to battle evil forces.
Additionally, during his time with Manchester United, Marcus Rashford co-authored his children’s novel “The Breakfast Club Adventures” in 2021, collaborating with the National Literacy Trust in the UK. Alex Morgan, another icon of U.S. soccer, signed a deal in 2012 to write “The Kicks,” a series aimed at fostering a love for soccer among children, particularly young girls.
