Liverpool and Arsenal ended their Premier League match in a 0-0 stalemate last night. Both teams exhibited strong performances, with each side having their moments, making the outcome seem fair. However, the highly anticipated match was overshadowed by a concerning incident involving Gabriel Martinelli and Conor Bradley.
During the match, the Liverpool defender sustained a significant knee injury. Meanwhile, Martinelli was observed not only throwing the ball at him but also attempting to pull him off the pitch while Bradley writhed in pain.
Gary Neville Critiques Martinelli’s Actions
Criticism from fans and analysts targeted Martinelli for his unprofessional conduct. Notably, former Premier League player Gary Neville remarked that the Liverpool players should have confronted the Arsenal forward, potentially inciting a red card.
Neville stated: “Conor Bradley has been taken off on a stretcher, and it’s heartbreaking given his injury history. I’m genuinely outraged by Gabriel Martinelli’s actions. I can’t understand why the Liverpool squad didn’t retaliate against him, even if it meant a red card. It’s utterly disgraceful.”
Post-match, Martinelli extended his apologies to Bradley and later issued a public apology on his social media accounts.
