Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres faced sharp criticism following a subdued showing against Liverpool in a Premier League match.
The Swedish striker, who moved to Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon over the summer, has struggled to find his form, netting just seven goals across 23 appearances.
Neville voiced his displeasure regarding Gyokeres’ performance, stating that the 27-year-old did not contribute effectively while on the field.
Following his underwhelming display, Gyokeres was substituted for Gabriel Jesus in the match, and fans of Arsenal are eager for Kai Havertz to regain full fitness soon.
Gary Neville’s comments on Gyokeres’ performance against Liverpool
According to afcstuff, Neville expressed during the Sky Sports commentary:
“He’s been ineffective, and that’s being kind. He’s offered nothing.” [Sky]
Despite a prolific scoring record in Portugal, with 97 goals in 102 matches, Gyokeres appears to be struggling at a top-tier Premier League club.
As Arsenal evaluates its options moving forward, it’s likely that the club will consider making a significant investment in this area, which many see as a critical weakness in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
