Gauff To Have ‘More Confidence’ In Her ‘Ability To Win Majors’ After US Open Win

Coco Gauff won a Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open, and according to Patrick Mouratoglou that will give her enough confidence to fight for more in 2024.

The young American is still in her teenage years, but it’s been already her fifth season on the WTA Tour. She’ll soon surpass many of her colleagues in experience, and that will be helpful for her in the future.

She now has an experience of winning a Grand Slam, and that experience will motivate her and give her extra confidence not just in her game but also in her belief that she can win Grand Slams, according to Patrick Mouratoglou, who spoke to Eurosport.

The French coach knows the teenager well, as she trained in his academy early in her career, and that’s why he backs her for more success, having worked with Gauff.

“You have Coco, being now a Grand Slam winner, you can feel that she has more confidence in her game and her ability to win majors. So this is going to be exciting.”

However, the former coach of the likes of Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Holger Rune, and Stefanos Tsitsipas recognizes how strong the WTA Tour is at the moment.

The likes of Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina are all capable of winning a Grand Slam title, and with Gauff in the mix, the 2024 season promises to be very exciting. According to the French coach, the competition between these players will make it interesting.

“And of course, I don’t forget all the other ones, Swiatek, Sabalenka, Rybakina, who dominated last year until Coco really came out. So they will be there too. There’s going to be a great competition between amazing players. I think it’s going to bring a lot of more excitement in women’s tennis next year.”
