Gauff’s Journey To US Open Glory Revealed By Eubanks

Gauff’s Journey To US Open Glory Revealed By Eubanks

Christopher Eubanks has known Coco Gauff since she was little, and seeing her win the US Open was a proud moment for him.

The American player had a tremendous 2023 campaign which was his debut on the grand stage. He did really well but not as well as Coco Gauff, who finally became a Grand Slam champion.

The fact that it happened on home soil in New York made it all the more special. Eubanks was glued to her progress, watching her every match because he basically grew up with her.

He’s known her forever and considers her like a little sister, so just being able to witness all that was a great moment for Eubanks, who spoke about Gauff’s win on the latest episode of Tennis Channel’s Inside-In podcast.

To be able to sit there and have I mean, I’ve known her since she was about five or six. And to see and to know all the hard work that it’s taken to get to this point, to all of the outside noise that’s kind of been there.

People questioning her forehand, people questioning what she needs to do with her team and just to see her kind of block out the noise as best as she can or as best as she could and to go through and have that summer that she had and culminating with the US Open.

He wasn’t the only one who was blown away by her performance. As he explained in his response, many people rallied around her, especially in the United States, and it was just this great celebration of Coco Gauff. It was particularly emotional for Eubanks, who was glad to see it.

I’m like, man, I know that little girl that’s like my little sister. And to see so many people really rally around, it was so cool.
