The Cleveland Browns lost their best offensive player early last season. Star RB Nick Chubb suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in recent NFL history, and some feared he wouldn’t be able to come back in time for the start of the upcoming campaign. Nonetheless, it seems like his recovery is marching along right as scheduled, and the Browns are currently confident about a full recovery. Recently, GM Andrew Berry revealed that Chubb was doing very well, and while he might not be ready to hit the ground running right away, the fact that they didn’t take a running back in the NFL Draft shows that there’s confidence in his rehab (via ProFootballTalk):
“He’s doing a really nice job in his rehab,” Berry said. “Still has got a long way to go, but he’s progressing nicely given this point in time.”

Jerome Ford started 12 games for them last season, logging 1,132 yards from scrimmage with nine touchdowns, and he’s likely to be the starter again if Chubb is sidelined to start the campaign. The Browns also signed two proven veterans in D’Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines in free agency to make up for the loss of Kareem Hunt, whom they signed when Chubb fell with an injury. This team was stung by the injury bug like no other in the league, so they clearly learned their lesson and wanted to make sure to have more than enough depth at every position heading into the season. Hopefully, Chubb won’t only be able to make a timely return but he’ll also be as good and efficient as he’s always been, as he’s been the most consistent and productive offensive member of this organization in ages.
