The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the best teams in the league for the last half-decade.

They have either made the NFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl in four of the last five seasons.

However, in the two Super Bowl appearances that they have made (2019, 2023), they have lost both to the Kansas City Chiefs after leading in the fourth quarter or overtime.

49ers All-Pro tight end George Kittle recently joined “The Dan Patrick Show” to chat about what he would change from the latest Super Bowl loss.

“I think if we could pull off that turnover, that’s different…Super unfortunate,” Kittle said.

The fumble that Kittle is referring to is running back Christian McCaffrey’s fumble early on in the first quarter.

San Francisco was looking at three points at the very least on the opening drive before the mistake.

Of course, they ended up losing in overtime by three.

If that fumble doesn’t happen, who knows if the Chiefs end up winning?

This latest Super Bowl loss shouldn’t hurt the 49ers’ chances heading into 2024.

This team is still built to compete for Super Bowls for years to come.

With Pro-Bowler Brock Purdy under center and with the elite skill players that this team possesses, they should be an elite team once again.

Other than the Packers and Lions, there isn’t an NFC team that came close to beating them in the biggest moments of the season.

If this team plays like they have played the last half-decade, they could very well be playing important ball in January and February once again.
