Giants fans are getting antsy about Daniel Jones’ ability to deliver in crucial moments.

After Thursday night’s loss to the Cowboys, Jones described his performance as “okay,” but many feel he missed a prime opportunity to rally his team in a high-stakes game.

It’s no easy task being under the microscope when expectations are sky-high.

Now, it seems Jones might have some veteran competition on the horizon.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network dropped a bombshell on Monday, reporting that the New York Giants are set to work out CJ Beathard this week.

The 30-year-old quarterback hit the free agent market last month after parting ways with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com offered some much-needed context.

“Don’t read too much into this from a QB perspective for Giants,” he cautioned. “Sense I get is that they had a workout with receivers and needed a QB. Beathard was available to throw. Similar to when Jarrett Guarantano worked out for Giants earlier this month.”

With Jones and Drew Lock already on the roster, Monday’s news initially raised eyebrows across the Big Apple.

But it seems this workout isn’t about shaking up the quarterback room after all.

Beathard’s NFL journey has seen him don the uniforms of the San Francisco 49ers (2017-2020) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (2021-2023).

His career stats show 3,886 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions across 32 games, including 13 starts. He’s completed 60.4% of his passes while enduring 53 sacks.

The Jaguars cut ties with Beathard in late August, citing an injury settlement due to a nagging groin issue.

They opted to keep Mac Jones as Trevor Lawrence’s understudy.
