After spending the first three years of his NFL career as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, versatile defender Isaiah Simmons was traded to the New York Giants before the start of the 2023 season.
Unfortunately, the Giants trading for Simmons didn’t result in a trip to playoffs for the second-straight year as the team came up significantly short of their expectations for the 2023 campaign.
Still, the young defender clearly did enough to impress New York, as it was revealed on Friday that the team and Simmons have agreed to a new contract, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Twitter.

Simmons was originally selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cardinals with the No. 8 pick.
He was viewed as one of the most unique defensive prospects to enter the draft in quite some time, as he spent portions of his college career at Clemson lining up all over the field and playing multiple positions.
Unfortunately, his versatility isn’t something that an NFL team has figured out how to properly utilize yet, and to be fair, it might not be something that translates to the pro level.
Perhaps things will turn out differently for Simmons during his second season with the Giants, as the team switched defensive coordinators earlier this year.
Former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen will be running the defense for New York in 2024 after the team moved on from Don “Wink” Martindale after the 2023 season.
Will Bowen calling the shots result in Simmons finally reaching his potential, or will he fall short once again?
