Gio Reyna joins Nottingham Forest on loan

Gio Reyna joins Nottingham Forest on loan

Gio Reyna is on his way to the English Premier League.

Nottingham Forest has acquired Reyna on loan for the remainder of the Premier League season, the club announced. The 21-year-old Reyna was linked with several European clubs including Marseille, Monaco, and Sevilla, but has decided to make the move to England.

Reyna had played only 360 minutes in 14 combined appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season. In total, Reyna has scored 17 goals and registered 16 assists in 121 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.

A move to the City Ground could be what sparks Reyna back to his best at club level. In addition, Nottingham Forest could use playmaking help if it wants to avoid a relegation fight over the final four months of the league campaign.

Reyna’s move to Nottingham Forest also unites him with U.S. men’s national team teammate Matt Turner. Turner has been in-and-out of the first team squad this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad are coming off a 2-1 league defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday night and next travels to Bournemouth on Sunday.
