Gladiators move quickly to acquire highly-rated American guard, Mike Bothwell.

Gladiators move quickly to acquire highly-rated American guard, Mike Bothwell.

Gareth Murray’s Caledonia Gladiators have bolstered their arsenal at the guard position after the departure of Mihailo Jovicic by acquiring Ohio native rookie, Mike Bothwell.

A graduate of Furman University, Bothwell featured for the Cleveland Cavaliers at the NBA Summer League recently with five appearances to his name, and recently signed in the Israeli Super League before his move to the Gladiators in the British Basketball League.

Proving a consistent contributor across the board in his five
years at Furman, the 6’3” 23-year-old arrives in East Kilbride with an impressive
collegiate resume as he looks to transition to the professional game with the
same success alongside the likes of Ian DuBose and Patrick Whelan in the Gladiators
roster.

Speaking following the signing of his newest floor general,
Coach Murray said:

“Mike brings a winning mentality and attitude. He’s a
versatile guard who led his Furman team in scoring last year but is a
team-first guy. A high-character, hard-working player who should fit in nicely
with the group we have this year.”

The newest Gladiators guard will not feature this Sunday for Caledonia against the visiting Manchester Giants, but may well have his debut for the club live on Sky Sports in a week’s time as Caledonia travel to the Leicester Riders for Friday night hoops!
