Global Golf Post Excels in Merchandising Strategy

By Since becoming golf shop manager in 2020, Kelsey Jo Holsten has helped transform the retail operation at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach, California. The golf shop has been turned into a boutique-style experience that keeps members coming back not only for golf apparel but for all their fashion needs.

“It’s the innovative part of merchandising I love, and seeing the business grow,” said Holsten, who began playing golf in her native Toledo, Ohio, before joining the PGA Golf Management program at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. “Our displays are loud and proud, telling a story while also educating members about fabrics and key features.”

Yet Holsten wasn’t always enamored with the merchandising aspect of the business. Through a series of internships and jobs at top-tier clubs such as Inverness, Trump National Doral, Tiburon and Pebble Beach, she was more drawn to teaching, daily operations and tournaments.
