GM Johnathon secures third ace | Inside Golf. Australia’s Most-Read Golf Magazine as named by Australian Golfers

GM Johnathon secures third ace | Inside Golf. Australia’s Most-Read Golf Magazine as named by Australian Golfers

ACE: Johnathon Zirkler shows off the ball he used to score a hole-in-one at Macksville Country Club.

FOR Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club’s general manager Johnathon Zirkler it was a case of anything you can do I can do better.

Playing in only his third competition in a year at Macksville Country Club in the NSW Nambucca Valley, Johnathon scored his third career hole-in-one when his ball found the cup on the new 158m, par-3 eighth hole.

“It was a well-flighted seven-iron designed to take advantage of the natural bounce on the hole that came to rest at holing pace,” said Johnathon, who played his junior golf at Macksville CC.

“To tell you the truth, Matt Baker (director) had hit before me and his ball struck the pin and rolled through to about eight feet. I hit mine on the same line and got an almost identical bounce just not quite as hard.

“Sometimes you get a little lucky, that’s all.”

It was Zirkler’s second ace at Macksville while the other hole-in-one was at Toowoomba Golf Club where he was the general manager for a number of years.
