Go Ahead Eagles CEO believes manager Rene Hake is ready for move to Manchester United – Latest News on Man United Transfers

Manchester United close to adding Go Ahead Eagles manager René Hake to their coaching staff - Man United News And Transfer News

Go Ahead Eagles technical director Paul Bosvelt has confirmed that head coach Rene Hake is on the brink of sealing a switch to Manchester United as he reiterated that they will not stand in his way.

Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff is currently undergoing a revamp, with the likes of Hake and former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy believed to be close to officially signing for the Old Trafford outfit.

Hake and Van Nistelrooy have been mooted as the replacements for Benni McCarthy – whose United contract expired at the end of last month – and Mitchell van der Gaag, whose future is uncertain.

Hake – who has been hailed as a “football animal” – previously worked with Ten Hag in the youth system at FC Twente. The Go Ahead Eagles coach recently described the chance to reunite with Ten Hag at United as a “great reward” for himself.

He unpacked his delight at lending his expertise to the Red Devils following a stellar past year in the Eredivisie.

The 52-year-old tactician guided Go Ahead Eagles to ninth in the Eredivisie last season, their best finish in more than 15 years. His exploits earned him a nomination for the Rinus Michels Award, which is given to the best coach in the Netherlands’ top flight.

Paul Bosvelt spoke to Voetbal International and had his say on Hake’s imminent move to England.

Bosvelt remarked, “He has earned this step and we wish him this very much.”

“But it has been going on for a week and a half now and we would like some clarity.”

He added, “This is a step that we do not want to take away from Rene. He deserves it very much.”

As per Voetbal Primeur, Bosvelt also explained that Hake has a clause in his contract that allows him to part ways with Go Ahead Eagles for “a few hundred thousand”.

Hake and Van Nistelrooy are not the only expected backroom staff incomings at United. It’s understood that the 20-time English champions are also on the verge of bringing in goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar.
