Golf cart driven far too fast down hill; disaster inevitably follows

Golf cart

We know that everyone loves an out-of-control golf cart – unless you are inside one.

It seems most people don’t realise the danger of driving a golf cart too quickly before it is too late.

The trouble is, they just aren’t that stable.

Luckily, these guys pushed the boundaries so you can learn from their mistakes.

Reddit tips for golf cart safety

While driving a golf cart, you should never attempt to perform stunts or drive recklessly. It’s important to follow the designated paths and rules of the golf course or area where you are driving. Additionally, you should never operate a golf cart under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Always prioritize safety and be mindful of other golfers, pedestrians, and vehicles sharing the space.

According to Quora user Geert Jan Bakker, these are golf cart no-nos.

You should never:

Leave the cart path if that is not allowed;

Forget to put the break on when stationed on a hill;

Drive through the rough as fairways often have drainage and the rough does not;

Drive from green to tee through the rough.

“A friend was driving the golf cart while searching for his ball. He was driving to and fro through the rough which was allowed. Suddenly, the golf cart and the passengers fell as it were over a cliff! In reality they had just driven over the edge of a bunker which they could not see. Later, the management of the course put little red markers on top of the bunkers to warn drivers.”

Bear in mind that it is also deeply unsafe to ride on the back of a golf cart as international cricketer Glenn Maxwell can attest to.

On one of the team’s days off, Maxwell lost his grip on the back of a golf cart as he was making his way from the clubhouse to the team bus in the early evening.

“He’s been honest with the information he’s provided,” head coach Andrew McDonald said. “He’s doing fine, he’ll start some light exercises today and we feel as though it will be a reasonably straightforward return to play protocol. Suppose the fortunate part was there was no other injury sustained which could have been a lot worse that it currently is.”

“Think it rattled everyone to be fair once it came to the conclusion there was a concussion and he was going to miss a game. There was nothing untoward in the behaviour throughout the day, it was a clear cut accident and unfortunately it’s compromised what we are doing as a team.”
