The American Hockey League has named Cleveland Monsters goaltender Jet Greaves as the Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending April 21, 2024.
Greaves played three road games in a 48-hour span over the weekend and made 97 saves on 103 shots, helping the Monsters clinch their first division title in franchise history. In Friday’s game against the Americans, Greaves made 28 saves, including 14 in the third period and overtime. On Saturday, he had a shutout going into the third period and finished with 39 saves in a win against Toronto. Finally, on Sunday, Greaves stopped 30 of 31 shots to secure a victory over the Marlies.
With Sunday’s win, Greaves became the franchise’s career leader in wins with 61 victories. Throughout the 2023-24 regular season, the 23-year-old from Cambridge, Ont., posted a record of 30-12-4, a 2.93 goals-against average, and a .910 save percentage in 46 games. Greaves tied for second in the AHL in wins and ranked third in minutes played, shots faced, and saves. He also participated in the AHL All-Star Classic that season.
Greaves signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets as a free agent on Feb. 20, 2022, and has played in 10 NHL games, including nine this season.
