Green Bay Packers General Manager Issues Statement Regarding Suspension of Wide Receiver

Packers GM Releases Statement After Suspending WR

Aaron Rodgers is no longer there, but there’s still some drama in the Green Bay Packers’ locker room.

One of their young stars is disgruntled with his role on the team, and he decided to take matters into his own hands.

WR Romeo Doubs decided to skip some recent practices over his alleged frustration with his lack of targets in the passing game.

That’s why the Packers have officially decided to suspend him for Sunday’s game vs. the Los Angeles Rams.

With that in mind, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst released a statement talking about how disappointed the team was in Doubs’ actions, which had a negative impact on the team (via Adam Schefter).

Still, he also stated that Doubs was a valuable member of the organization and was confident in their ability to solve this issue in a positive manner.

Doubs is currently third on the team with 20 targets, two behind both Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed.

He logged 13 of those 20 targets in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

He was coming off a breakout season in 2023, as he logged 96 targets — by far the most on the team.

Moreover, his lack of involvement in the passing game has also been circumstantial, as the Packers deployed run-heavy offenses in the two games Jordan Love missed with injuries.

Still, even if he had a right to be upset about his lack of opportunities, this isn’t the way to address those issues.
