Greg Norman believes more stars will follow Masters champion Jon Rahm to LIV Golf.
LIV’s Chief Executive told the BBC’s World Business Report his phone has been “blowing up” since the World No.3 revealed his controversial switch on December 7.
The Saudi-funded league is looking to recruit extra names to join Rahm who is set to captain a new team in 2024.
“To have Jon on board was critically important to our future and what we want to do,” Norman said.
“It will create a domino effect, there will be more apples falling from the tree – no question about it, because LIV continues to develop.
“Since Jon signed, less than a week ago now, I know my phone is blowing up.
“I know we probably have eight to 12 players who are very, very keen to sit down and talk to us about coming on board.
“It tells you the value of what our platform is, where these PGA Tour players see the opportunity that LIV offers. All the guys that play on LIV are just so happy about the decision that they’ve made.
“LIV is a different platform to the DP World Tour or the PGA Tour and the players want to do both quite honestly, so we’ve created something special. It’s a franchise, it’s a team model and they have embraced it 100 per cent.”
Which players could line up with Jon Rahm in 2024?
Since the Spaniard signed on LIV’s dotted line, the likes of Viktor Hovland and US Open champion Wyndham Clark have been linked with moves too.
LIV Golf chose not to comment when NCG enquired about these players, while Clark’s management team haven’t issued a response as of yet.
One player who was reportedly in talks but now staying with the PGA Tour is Tony Finau.
The popular American revealed on his Instagram page his intention to remain with the US circuit when it appeared he could follow his close friend Rahm to the other side of professional golf’s divide.
Not only will the Spaniard need new teammates but four of the current 12 LIV teams have open spots to fill with new faces as well.
Kalle Samooja, Jinichero Kozuma and Kieran Vincent earned places on the 2024 schedule via LIV Golf Promotions – a Q-school-style event which took place earlier this month in Abu Dhabi.
