Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman believes his team is set to light up the scoreboard in 2024 under the leadership of young quarterback Justin Herbert and a wide array of scoring options.

He is not alone in the assessment as optimism swirls around the club with the arrival of Jim Harbaugh to lead Los Angeles to the promised land.

Roman also has a massive role to play in that success, and he told the media this week that the offense is progressing nicely.

NFL analyst Kevin Oestreicher noted the coach’s optimism as the Chargers performed in the June minicamp.

Roman expressed the desire of every offensive coach to achieve a balance between rushing and passing but emphasized that “we’re not just gonna run the ball into a brick wall.”

He observed that the desired effect on an opposing defense may be manipulated by creating “the illusion of wanting to run the ball.”

Roman said his players are very clear on the identity the team wants on the field, and the job now is to find that “sweet spot” where plan and performance come together.

The former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator is known for emphasizing a powerful running attack, but he is working hard to assure Chargers fans that the team will still air it out with Herbert’s explosive arm leading the way.

The spotlight will be on the Chargers this fall, and expectations could hardly be higher.
