In response to a series of significant injuries, the Memphis Grizzlies are making strategic moves, signing guards Shaquille Harrison and Jaylen Nowell to 10-day hardship exceptions, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The NBA granted these exceptions to the Grizzlies due to a string of injuries, with five players expected to be sidelined for two-plus weeks, including star guard Ja Morant serving a 25-game league suspension.

The injury-plagued Grizzlies are currently without key players, including center Steven Adams (season-ending knee surgery) and forward Brandon Clarke (Achilles recovery).

Additionally, guard Marcus Smart, guard Luke Kennard, forward Xavier Tillman, and forward Jake LaRavia are facing shorter-term losses.

30-year-old Harrison, who has been drawing interest from EuroLeague sides Olimpia Milano Crvena Zvezda, returns to the NBA with his eighth stint, having previously played with the Grizzlies in the preseason before being released.

24-year-old Nowell joins the Grizzlies after playing parts of four seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves. This season, he contributed to the Sacramento Kings’ G League affiliate in Stockton before securing a spot with Memphis.
