USMNT weekend viewing guide: before the break

The USMNT Club Preview: What to Watch This Weekend

The USMNT will assemble for the first time under new manager Mauricio Pochettino next week but they have another weekend of club competition first. Players seem to be either hurt or on fire over the first month of the season so here’s what we’re watching this weekend.

Friday

Augsburg v Borussia Monchengladbach – 2:30pm on ESPN+

Joe Scally and Borussia Monchengladbach picked up their second win of the season last weekend against Union Berlin 1-0. Scally has played every minute thus far for Gladbach through the first five matches of the season. They face an Augsburg side coming off a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of RB Leipzig.

Hellas Verona v Venezia – 2:45pm on Paramount+

Gianluca Busio and Venezia fell to Roma 2-1 last weekend. It was Busio’s third start in a row since returning from injury and the first in which he has been able to play the full 90’. They face a Hellas Verona team this weekend who are just two points ahead of them in the table in a matchup that will be important for Venezia if they wish to avoid a return trip to Serie B.

Saturday

Crystal Palace v Liverpool – 7:30am on USA Network

Chris Richards remains out this weekend and at least through the international break as Matt Turner remains the backup keeper at Crystal Palace. Palace face league-leading Liverpool on Saturday morning.

Sunday

Juventus v Cagliari – 6:30am on Paramount+

Weston McKennie continues to start for Juventus who are also undefeated to start the season. Juventus played the last thirty minutes of their match against RB Leipzig down a man as their keeper was sent off for a handball outside of the box in the second half.
