Both Haji Wright and Brenden Aaronson celebrated goalscoring performances in Saturday’s club action and will now embark on international duty.
Wright and Aaronson were added to the U.S. men’s national team’s CONCACAF Nations League roster for the upcoming Final Four, U.S. Soccer announced. Both Luca de la Torre and Josh Sargent were forced to withdraw from USMNT duty following respective injuries.
De La Torre is diagnosed with a right quadriceps strain which forced him out of the Celta Vigo squad this weekend. Josh Sargent suffered right ankle irritation in Saturday’s 3-0 EFL Championship win over Stoke City.
Wright, 25, has enjoyed a stellar club campaign with English second-tier side Coventry City. The American forward has totaled 15 goals for the Sky Blues across all competitions, including scoring the winner in Saturday’s 3-2 FA Cup semifinal triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
All seven of Wright’s USMNT caps came during the 2022 year, which featured a goalscoring performance against the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Aaronson has scored two goals this season while on loan at Bundesliga side Union Berlin. He recently scored against Werder Bremen on Saturday and overall has earned 38 caps for the USMNT to date.
The USMNT hosts Jamaica in the CNL semifinals on Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
