Simona Halep dreams of a return to tennis before the 2024 Olympics, but unfortunately, it’s out of her control.
Halep is very confident that she will return to a tennis court again because she thinks she didn’t do anything wrong. Despite that, Halep is officially banned from competing in the sport due to a positive doping sample after the 2022 US Open.
Since then, the Romanian has been on a mission to prove her innocence and that journey will take her to CAS in 2024. The court is the only one that can lift her ban, and she hopes it happens before the 2024 Olympics.
Being able to return is obviously the dream and goal as it hangs in the balance, but happening before the 2024 Olympics in Paris would be the dream. She loves the city; she won the Roland Garros, and combining all of that with the prestige of the Olympics is a dream.
Of course. This is my dream! I know there are not big chances for this, but I’m dreaming of this because Paris is my dream city. I won Roland Garros here when I was a junior, so everything started very early, and it will be amazing to be back on court, no matter what. But I just want to be on court because that’s where I belong and I feel like I want to do it again.
We’ll see what happens, but there is no guarantee that she’ll get her ban lifted by CAS. If she doesn’t, she’ll likely end her career, as she confirmed in this same interview with Euronews.
If the ban gets lifted, then we’ll see if she can find her way back to the top. She’s working on her game regularly, hoping that the ban gets lifted soon, but we’ll see.
