Haliburton Clinches 2023-24 Assists Crown: Basketball Analysts

Indiana Pacers Tyrese Haliburton joins Chris Paul as only NBA players with 20+ points, 20+ assists, & 0 turnovers in a game

In the NBA, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers led the league in assists per game for the 2023-24 season, averaging 10.9 assists. His stellar performance not only earned him his first assists title but also played a crucial role in Indiana making it to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

Haliburton’s exceptional season was further highlighted by his efficiency as the Pacers boasted the most efficient offense in the NBA, scoring an average of 123.3 points per game. The team also led the league in assists per game with 30.8 and had a shooting percentage of 50.7, the best in the NBA.

With impressive offensive statistics, Haliburton’s individual performance shone as well with an offensive win-share of 7.6, an offensive box plus/minus of 7.3, and an effective field goal percentage of 57.0%. These numbers contributed to Indiana securing the six seed in the Eastern Conference, positioning them as a dark horse in the playoffs.

Despite facing the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round, a team with high star power, the Pacers have shown promise with a regular-season series win against them. While the Bucks are favored, Indiana’s efficient offense and the performances of key players like Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner could potentially lead to an upset. With the series currently at 1-0 in favor of the Bucks, there is still a chance for the Pacers to surprise and advance further in the playoffs.
