Harry Maguire of Manchester United Fined £1000 for Speeding

Karen Carney says "huge system error" cost Manchester United, not just Christian Eriksen blunder - Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been fined for speeding earlier this year.

The £80 million defender arrived to Old Trafford in 2019 and has had a rollercoaster time of it at United.

In six seasons, he has played 213 times for the club, scoring 11 goals.

It seemed that his career was over at the club when he was stripped of the captaincy and almost sold to West Ham United in the summer of 2023.

He has since fought back however and has become a rather dependable back up option for regular duo Matthijs De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez, already playing seven times this season.

Things are not so positive off the pitch however, as The Sun report that “Harry Maguire has been slapped with a £1,000 fine for speeding in his flash Land Rover.”

He “was clocked by a traffic camera on the A616 in South Yorkshire doing 68mph in a 60mph zone.”

The England international “triggered the monitor near his home city of Sheffield just before 2pm on March 7th”.

Maguire admitted to the offence and pleaded guilty and his case was processed on Monday of this week.

He was fined £670, three points have been added to his license and an additional £268 victim surcharge and £90 in court costs, took the total of the fine to £1,028.

This is not the first time a United player has got into hot water over their driving as his teammate Marcus Rashford is currently banned.

Maguire will hope to put this behind him and continue to play a key role in United’s season, where they will hope to bounce back from last night’s disappointing Europa League draw with FC Twente in a blockbuster tie versus Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening.
