‘I Lost Track of Time’

‘I Lost Track of Time’

Anthony Edwards

Anthony Edwards missed the opening tip when the Minnesota Timberwolves faced the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night.

As a result, he had to come off the bench and was replaced by Nickeil Alexander-Walker in the starting lineup. Minnesota was also hit with a delay of game violation as a result of the shakeup Edwards caused.

“I lost track of time,” said Edwards, who tends to spend most of pregame warmups doing resistance band work outside the team’s locker room, according to ESPN.

The Timberwolves star entered the game with 11:25 remaining in the first quarter and finished with just 13 points in 35 minutes, shooting 4-10 from the field. Edwards was affected by a right elbow contusion in the third quarter, which he decided to play through.

It’s been an eventful time for the former number-one draft pick, who just three days ago left Minnesota’s game against Sacramento at halftime to witness the birth of his child.

Edwards is averaging a career-high 26.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 46.6 percent field goal shooting this season.

He has been instrumental in leading the Timberwolves, a team with a long tortured history, to the first seed in the Western Conference. The Wolves currently have a record of 43-19 and sit half a game ahead of the second-placed Oklahoma City Thunder.
