‘I think..’ – Journalist names Man United’s top midfield target this summer

‘I think..’ – Journalist names Man United’s top midfield target this summer

According to transfer reporter Ben Jacobs, Manchester United have made Joao Gomes of Wolverhampton Wanderers their “top target” to bolster their midfield this summer.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to bolster their squad in the forthcoming window in an attempt to improve their fortunes for the upcoming season after suffering a disastrous campaign this season.

Erik ten Hag’s main goal is supposedly to revamp the defense, but he also wants to strengthen the midfield by bringing in a new player.

Gomes is apparently on their radar as well, although a few names—Amadou Onana, Joao Neves, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall—have also been linked to a transfer to Old Trafford.

According to Jacobs, who was speaking on GiveMeSport, Man Utd are looking to bolster their midfield strength and have identified Gomes as a “top target.”

Man United’s top midfield target named

The reporter does note that the Red Devils’ possible addition to this position will rely on departures, since Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Scott McTominay’s futures are still unknown.

Joao Gomes to Man United?

Jacobs said:

“I think Joao Gomes is among Manchester United’s top midfield targets. The first thing to say is that the midfield will depend, at least in that position on Casemiro, on whether he departs. There is firm Saudi interest.

“Christian Eriksen has already said that he’s unhappy with his game time, so potentially he’s also outgoing. We know there’ll be interest in Scott McTominay, but Manchester United value him. However, he’s also been linked with various clubs for the last few windows.

“So, naturally, Manchester United will look to strengthen that area of midfield if the departures allow them to generate squad space, wage space and funds to do so.”

Wolves will demand £40 million for Man United target

Man Utd will need to shell out a substantial sum of money to get the Brazilian’s services as it has been reported that Wolves may accept a price of about £40 million to sell him.

In the Premier League, the South American has shown flashes of his talent, it would be a wise move by the Red Devils if they can sign the midfielder.
