Tommy Fleetwood’s Caddie Reveals Absence Due to Open-Heart Surgery
After speculation surrounded the absence of Tommy Fleetwood’s caddie in recent weeks, Ian Finnis revealed what had been keeping him on the sidelines.
Ian Finnis, the long-time caddie of Tommy Fleetwood, disclosed on Tuesday that he had undergone open-heart surgery.
Fleetwood had to find a temporary replacement caddie, Gray Moore, for the Masters last month as Finnis recovered from the surgery. Despite the change, Fleetwood managed to finish tied for third at Augusta National.
Fleetwood shared that Finnis had been unwell throughout the year and needed time to recuperate and receive treatment at home.
On social media, Finnis confirmed the surgery, thanking the NHS staff for their care and support. He expressed his gratitude and indicated that the road to recovery had begun.
Ian Finnis: On the Road to Recovery
In the absence of Finnis, Fleetwood enlisted the help of TaylorMade senior manager Adrian Rietveld for two PGA Tour events. The duo has had a successful partnership since 2016, winning six DP World Tour titles together and representing Team Europe in the last three Ryder Cups.
In another twist, Fleetwood returned to the Challenge Tour last week to caddie for his stepson, Oscar Craig. Despite his absence on the DP World Tour, Fleetwood’s support helped Craig make the cut and finish 60th at the UAE Challenge.
Before his success on the DP World Tour, Fleetwood had victories on the Challenge Tour and the EuroPro Tour.
Thankfully, Ian Finnis is on the path to recovery. Share your thoughts on this Tommy Fleetwood caddie update!
