Robert MacIntyre opens up on struggles before winning RBC Canadian Open

Robert MacIntyre revealed that he was not himself in the weeks leading up to his triumph at the RBC Canadian Open. The Scotsman admitted that the American lifestyle had taken a toll on his mood earlier in the season, leading to a much-needed break back home in Scotland.

After experiencing a series of missed cuts on the PGA Tour, MacIntyre decided to take a three-week break in Oban to reset. He mentioned that many other European players who had earned their PGA Tour cards were facing similar challenges while adjusting to the new environment.

However, MacIntyre’s fortunes changed after his break, culminating in an eighth-place finish at the PGA Championship and eventually winning the Canadian Open. He credits his time back in Scotland for helping him regain his form and focus.

Reflecting on the close-knit camaraderie of the European Tour, MacIntyre highlighted the difference in the tour dynamics compared to the PGA Tour. He mentioned a recent dinner with fellow European player Jorge Campillo, underscoring the strong sense of community and friendship that he misses from his time on the European circuit.
