Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina: 2024 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina: 2024 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

Iga Swiatek is still unbeaten at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, reaching another semi-final, where she’ll take on Elena Rybakina.

It seems like very few things can go wrong for Swiatek at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, as the Polish player is through to yet another semi-final at the WTA 500 event.

Her only two appearances at the event finished with the trophy, and she’s now only one match away from being in another final. To get there, she’ll have to overcome Rybakina, who has beaten her before, so it won’t be easy.

The good news is that this is the court she’ll most likely want to play Rybakina on, as she’s been amazing in Stuttgart. The win over a red-hot Emma Raducanu only further highlighted that.

Head-to-head:

Swiatek and Rybakina have played some fascinating matches over the years. The most recent meeting in Doha this year was an amazing display from both players, but it was the Polish superstar who got the win. That was the first time the Pole beat Rybakina since 2021, the first match they ever played.

Between these two wins, Rybakina accumulated four wins, one of which was at an exhibition event and one after a retirement. Still, she’s shown to be a very tricky opponent for Swiatek, though her form this week hasn’t been that great despite winning matches.

Prediction:

The conditions in Stuttgart can play into Rybakina’s hands, but only if she really brings her A game regarding the serve. If she doesn’t serve well, she’ll find herself in a tricky spot because the indoor conditions speed things up a little bit.

Both players are likely to be very aggressive, so ultimately, it will come down to the rallies. Whoever is more consistent in those will win, and Swiatek is more likely to be that player.

Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in two sets.
