Igor Tudor, the newly appointed manager of Tottenham Hotspur, delivered a candid critique following his team’s 4-1 defeat to Arsenal.

In his debut match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Croatian coach observed a performance marred by persistent “bad habits” within the squad.

Despite the severe loss, which sees Spurs stuck in 16th place in the league, Tudor remains optimistic about their chances of avoiding relegation, albeit with a sharp critique of the current atmosphere in the locker room.

“I am confident because I know these are good players with bad habits,” Tudor stated. “They have quality; no one can deny that. However, we need to flip the mental switch and maintain our focus from the start to the finish of matches.”

Relegation Concerns Loom for Tottenham

While Tudor aims to instill a change in mindset, the league standings present a more alarming reality. With the 4-1 collapse fueled by double goals from Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres, Tottenham remains winless in the Premier League for all of 2026 thus far.

Currently, with just 11 matches left to play, they find themselves a mere four points above the relegation zone.

The “emergency situation” Tudor highlighted upon joining has escalated, compounded by reports of key players such as Micky van de Ven seemingly disregarding his directives. This challenge of reforming those “bad habits” before a potential drop into the Championship is monumental.

Tottenham urgently needs to regain that mental sharpness, especially with a critical match coming up next Sunday, or they risk the daunting possibility of relegation.
