Igor Tudor Sets Ambitious Tone in First Tottenham Interview: 'We're Here to Win' After Thomas Frank Departuren

Igor Tudor Receives Warm Welcome as New Tottenham Manager

Igor Tudor’s inaugural interview after being appointed the interim manager of Tottenham Hotspur has earned him the admiration of a frustrated fan base.

The Croatian coach, who took over on Saturday to guide Spurs for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, quickly laid out an ambitious plan aimed at transforming a team currently sitting in 16th place.

Igor Tudor Declares ‘We Aim to Win’ in Debut Interview

Entering the challenging atmosphere of North London, Tudor shared a decisive message that resonated with supporters weary of a lackluster defensive approach.

“We aim to win,” Tudor asserted during his introduction. “Going out there with the intention of settling for a draw is not an option. We step onto the pitch to secure victories; matches are not prepared with a draw in mind. My goal is plain: to enhance our consistency and compete fiercely in every game.”

Tudor has agreed to an interim contract that lasts until season’s end and is charged with reversing a troubling streak in which Spurs have secured just two victories from their last 17 league fixtures.

His initial match will be a challenging one: a North London derby against Arsenal, the current league leaders, next Sunday.

A Sharp Contrast to Thomas Frank’s Defeatist Attitude

Tudor’s proactive approach dramatically contrasts with the mindset of his predecessor, Thomas Frank.

The Danish manager, who was dismissed on Wednesday after only eight months at the helm, often frustrated fans with what they viewed as a pessimistic outlook.

During his unveiling, Frank notably said, “We are going to lose games,” a remark aimed at tempering expectations but which ultimately alienated supporters accustomed to the club’s “To Dare Is To Do” philosophy.

He added, “I can guarantee one thing, we will lose football matches.”

Frank’s lackluster comments, compounded by gaffes like drinking from an Arsenal-branded coffee cup, set a negative tone during his stint at Spurs.

Although Frank’s pragmatic style was successful at Brentford, his failure to instill a “big club” mentality at Tottenham led to the lowest points-per-game ratio (1.12) of any Spurs manager in the Premier League history.
