The Regular Season in BBL is slowly approaching the end, with some important changes in the final standings still possible in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The game between third-ranked Chemnitz (23-8) and seventh-ranked Rasta Vechta (19-12) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Chemnitz was defeated by Rasta Vechta in a tough game in Chemnitz, 83-91. Vechta made 29-of-34 free shots (85.3 percent) during the game. American guard Tommy Kuhse led the winners with 21 points. His fellow American import forward Wes Iwundu chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Rasta Vechta’s coach Ty Harrelson used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters some rest for the next games. Kevin Yebo produced 23 points and 5 rebounds for the lost side. Vechta moved up to sixth place, which they share with Bonn. Chemnitz lost their third consecutive game and remains in the third position with eight games lost. Vechta will face Goettingen (#13) at home in the next round, while Chemnitz will play against Hamburg (#10).
Leader Bayern Muenchen delivered their twenty-fifth victory, beating fifth-ranked ratiopharm Ulm (21-10) 81-74. It ended the six-game winning streak of ratiopharm Ulm. Nick Weiler-Babb had a great performance for Bayern Muenchen with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Carsen Edwards contributed with 17 points for the winners. Juan Nunez answered with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists for Ulm. Bayern maintains first place with a 25-5 record, while Ulm sits in the fifth position with ten games lost. Bayern will play against league’s second-placed ALBA in Berlin in the next round, while Ulm will play on the road against Heidelberg.
In an upset, higher-ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (18-13) lost to fifteenth-ranked Seawolves (9-22) in a road game 85-91. Tyler Nelson led his team to victory with 31 points and 5 rebounds. Desure Buie responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the losing side. Rostock moved up to fourteenth place, tied with Weissenfels, while Ludwigsburg dropped to the eighth position. Rostock will meet higher-ranked Braunschweig (#11) on the road in the next round, while Ludwigsburg will play against Weissenfels.
