In the 2024 Davis Cup quarter-finals, Team Canada to face Germany

Team Canada drawn against Germany in 2024 Davis Cup quarter-finals

Team Canada has been drawn against Germany in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Davis Cup, the ITF confirmed on Thursday. The Final 8 Knockout Stage will take place in Malaga, Spain from November 19-24.

Canada, ranked No.3, last faced Germany (No. 5) in the quarter-finals of their 2022 Davis Cup title-winning campaign. A singles victory for Félix Auger-Aliassime over Oscar Otte and Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil’s doubles win against Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz secured their passage into the semi-finals.

Led by captain Frank Dancevic, the Canadian team featuring Auger-Aliassime, Shapovalov, Gabriel Diallo, Alexis Galarneau and Pospisil sealed its place in the Final 8 during last week’s Group Stage in Manchester, UK. They won all three ties, against Argentina, Finland and Great Britain respectively, to top Group D.

Three-time Davis Cup champions Germany, meanwhile, finished second in Group C with a 2-1 record having lost to group winners the United States and beating Slovakia and Chile in Zhuhai, China.

The winner of the tie between Canada and Germany, set to take place between November 19-21, will face either Spain or the Netherlands, who contest the other quarter-final in the bottom half of the draw, in the semi-finals.
