In the Thailand Open final, Sramkova faces off against Siegemund in Hua Hin

The Thailand Open 2 final, the WTA 250 tournament being held at Hua Hin this week, will be played by Rebecca Sramkova and Laura Siegemund on Sunday, both of whom secured straight-set wins to advance on Saturday.

Slovakia’s Sramkova is on a roll, reaching her second WTA singles final in two weeks with a 6-4 6-2 semi-final win over Tamara Zidansek from Slovenia, having reached her first career championship match at Monastir last week.

Capitalising on 4 of 7 break chances, Sramkova needed just 84 minutes to seize the day.

Booking a spot in her first WTA final of the season, German Siegemund fired 2 aces and coughed up just 2 double-faults on her way to a 6-3 6-3 win over Dutch qualifier Arianne Hartono.

Siegemund, who is now aiming for her first WTA singles title since Stuttgart in 2017, has been dominant throughout the tournament, not losing a single set, while Sramkova has dropped two so far.

Having won two career titles, Siegmund is the more successful of the two, while Sramkova has yet to win a title, although she reached the final at the Jasmin Open.

Siegemund has primarily played on the main tour, where she is a successful doubles player, having won 14 major titles, while Sramkova has been competing at Challenger and ITF level.

Laura Siegemund defeated qualifier Arianne Hartono to make her first WTA singles final of the year in Thailand.
