INEOS finds relief as Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot not included in Real Madrid’s transfer targets

Manchester United break xG against record in pathetic loss to Tottenham Hotspur - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s problems at left-back are well known with Erik ten Hag currently without a specialist in that position since the start of the season.

Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia continue to be sidelined with the manager employing right-back Diogo Dalot in that position owing to his versatility.

The Portuguese, who was close to an exit when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge, has impressed under the Dutch manager and he won the right-back race against Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who departed in the summer.

The former Porto star’s displays in red have seemingly alerted Real Madrid to his availability with the Spanish giants looking to reinforce at right full-back next summer.

Real Madrid looking at Dalot

Despite having a contract in Manchester until 2028, United’s new co-owners were afraid that an approach from Los Blancos could turn Dalot’s head like plenty of other United stars in the past.

Their hopes of hanging onto the 25-year-old received a major boost courtesy Givemesport who have claimed that La Liga side do not have the Portugal international on their immediate shortlist of targets.

Real are currently eyeing one among Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong and Pedro Porro of Tottenham Hotspur.

While Dalot is not on that list, the Madrid side are still keeping tabs and their failure to land one of the above could see them revisit their interest.

“Manchester United have been boosted in their hopes of keeping Diogo Dalot at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future as long-term admirers Real Madrid have opted against including him among their top targets when putting plans in place to sign a new right-back in 2025, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Real’s list of targets revealed

“GMS sources have been informed that Manchester United are comfortable after discovering that they will not necessarily have to fight to hold onto Dalot, who has become one of the more important and trustworthy members of the squad under ten Hag, and they are desperate for Real Madrid to continue looking in another direction.”

“GMS sources have been told that Dalot will stay on Real Madrid’s radar as they continue assessing their options, meaning that Manchester United keeping him on board is still not a certainty despite Alexander-Arnold, Frimpong and Porro being primary targets for last season’s Champions League winners.”

The defender has started every game so far this season and is one of Ten Hag’s trusted lieutenants on the pitch. He currently has a market value of €40 million as per Transfermarkt.

United are likely to demand a lot more should push come to shove. They signed Noussair Mazraoui, a right-back by trade in the summer, who can also double up on the left if required. The signing of a left-back is also expected in January.
