Ineos Fulfill Erik ten Hag’s Expensive Request, Causing Stir Among Man United Staff – Man United Latest Updates on Transfers

Ineos grant Erik ten Hag costly wish that has "raised eyebrows" among Man United staff - Man United News And Transfer News

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS reportedly gave the go-ahead for the erection of a giant wall at Carrington, as per Erik ten Hag’s wishes, to give the first team more privacy when training.

The Daily Mail reveals, “Erik ten Hag could be forgiven for circling the wagons amid his latest crisis as Manchester United manager, and no expense has been spared to grant the Dutchman’s wishes.”

“A giant white wall has been erected at Carrington to hide United’s training sessions from prying eyes and shield Ten Hag’s squad from the elements while a £50million upgrade forces them to practise in a more exposed area of the complex.”

“The wall, sanctioned by Ineos and the leadership group, was installed in the last fortnight at the request of the manager. United sources assure Confidential that it simply gives Ten Hag and his players the privacy and protection they had on the old first-team training pitch.”

As the Mail notes, Ten Hag is not the first United manager to undertake such a move.

His fellow Dutchman Louis van Gaal, during his time in the Old Trafford dugout, ordered the putting up of windbreakers at Carrington in 2015.

It’s understood that the wall – which cost United a hefty £200,000 – has “raised eyebrows” among club staff.

Since Ratcliffe completed his partial 27.7% investment into United earlier this year, the British businessman has been ruthless in his bid to implement cost-cutting measures at the club.

One of the more radical measures that Ratcliffe enforced was making up to 250 employees redundant.

The Mail notes, “The new co-owners have promised to re-invest the savings in first-team operations, but some staff have questioned whether the wall is really worth it.”

All this comes as Ten Hag’s hangs on to his United job by a thread.

Ten Hag remains under pressure after a drab start to the season that currently has United in 14th position in the Premier League table.
