INEOS stirs up controversy with another decision involving Sir Alex Ferguson, as he’s instructed to avoid Man United dressing room – Latest updates from Man United on transfers and news

INEOS make another controversial Sir Alex Ferguson decision as he's told to stay away from Man United dressing room - Man United News And Transfer News

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the club board have reportedly been informed to stay away from the dressing room, in yet another controversial decision by INEOS.

Earlier today, it emerged that INEOS terminated Ferguson’s £2m contract as an ambassador of United.

The move was made as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s cost-cutting drive that seeks to ensure United remain compliant with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Ferguson has been paid the annual sum for his role as a global ambassador and football board director, since his retirement from football management in 2013.

It was stated that Ratcliffe held an “amicable” discussion with the Scot, to explain to him why his contract would not be renewed. Ferguson will keep his place as a non-executive director.

Meanwhile, Mike Keegan of The Daily Mail reports that Ferguson and the United football board have been asked not to enter the dressing room at Old Trafford.

In doing so, a tradition that stretches back to the Sir Matt Busby era has been broken.

According to Keegan, “Mail Sport can reveal that in a further, controversial move Ferguson – the most successful manager in the club’s history – will no longer enter the inner sanctum following matches as part of a change in policy.”

“United deny that they have directly banned Ferguson from the changing room but say there is now a ‘collective understanding’ over who goes inside.”

“Visits to the dressing room have been part of the club’s culture for decades. Ferguson and fellow football board members David Gill and Mike Edelson were always welcome, as were Sir Bobby Charlton and former director Maurice Watkins, before they passed away.”

Keegan explains that the United football board is regarded as a ceremonial body and is separate from the official board.

The Red Devils return to action this weekend when they host Brentford.
