The Green Bay Packers won’t have one of their best players on offense when they face the Los Angeles Rams.
Young WR Romeo Doubs was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team after quite an eventful week.
Doubs is reportedly unhappy with his role and involvement — or lack thereof — in the passing game, so he took things upon himself.
He skipped practice and didn’t even report to the team.
Fortunately, Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reports that he’s fully expected to be back on the field next week (via Ian Rapoport).
Doubs has only been targeted 20 times in the first four games of the season, with eight of those targets coming in a single game.
Then again, it’s not like the Packers were wheeling and dealing at the beginning of the season.
With Jordan Love out with an injured knee, LaFleur deployed a run-heavy offense.
Even if that weren’t the case, Doubs had no right to do what he did.
Young players make mistakes, and the important thing is that they learn from them.
LaFleur runs a tight ship, and Doubs left him no choice.
Hopefully, this won’t lead to further issues between him and the coaching staff, as he’s a very talented player who should be heavily featured on offense for the remainder of the season.
He’s coming off leading the team in most receiving metrics last season, and one would assume that his workload would get back to normal once Love shook off the rust and got back on the field.
