New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara was not seen at the team’s final mandatory minicamp practice.

The reason being that he is looking for a change in his contract.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Kamara and the Saints have been chatting about a contract restructure for months.

With no progress on a restructure, Kamara decided not to show up to practice on Thursday.

The Saints would be considered foolish to not keep Kamara around for the foreseeable future or at least pay him whatever he wants, as long as it is reasonable.

He has been one of the more consistent offensive players in the league for over a half-decade now.

The five-time Pro Bowler has recorded at least 1,100 scrimmage yards in each of his seven seasons in the Bayou.

Despite never rushing for over 1,000 yards, Kamara has made up for it in the receiving game.

He has five career seasons with 75+ receptions.

Whether it is through the air or on the ground, the franchise legend has proven to be a steady piece for whoever has been at quarterback.

Still just 28 years of age, the former Tennessee Volunteer is the franchise’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns, receptions by a running back, receiving yards by a running back, and in many other categories.

He has been the real deal and should be fairly compensated for it.

The Saints should look to have him be their focal point on offense for years to come, especially if they want to compete for a Super Bowl.
