The Philadelphia Eagles made one of the biggest moves of the offseason.
They managed to lure a former divisional rival to the City of Brotherly Love, signing Saquon Barkley to a very lucrative deal.
This rather surprising move shocked the NFL world.
However, the Eagles were clearly not the only suitor for his services.
According to a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Houston Texans almost signed him.
We all know the story by now of how Saquon Barkley ended up with the Philadelphia Eagles.
But Philly wasn’t the only team after him. The star running back almost landed in Houston, per @DMRussini.

Apparently, the Texans were very active in their pursuit of Barkley, but they were eventually priced out.
The Eagles made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
They signed him to a three-year deal worth $37.75 million that could be worth up to $46.75 million, including $26 million guaranteed.
Notably, it didn’t take long before the Penn State product made an impact with his new team.
He stole the show in the season opener in Brazil, scoring three total touchdowns.
Of course, signing a player like Saquon Barkley comes with plenty of risks, as he’s had plenty of issues with injuries throughout the course of his career, but he’s well worth the gamble.
The New York Giants, on the other hand, failed to score a single touchdown in their first game of the post-Barkley era.
The Texans also got a solid consolation prize.
They made the most of the Cincinnati Bengals’ decision to move on from Joe Mixon, and he also shined in his first game with his new team, logging the most total yards in the league in Week 1.
